A negative is not an image yet — it is a record of density, waiting for a print. Silver_Tales is a native darkroom instrument that develops digitized film the way an enlarger would: it works in the density domain, inverts each channel against the film's own base and fog, and shapes the result through an H&D curve rather than a generic tone slider. Every stock has its own profile, drawn from an updatable film-pack database, and profiles are treated as priors — each one carries its confidence and provenance, so the app tells you when it is guessing. Per-scan auto-calibration, flat-field correction, neutral white balance, dust and scratch healing, grain synthesis and painted local masks all run on the same Metal pipeline, roll after roll, resumable.
